Financial products themselves should be better designed for how people think and actually behave. That’s our job, as the industry. Not to embrace complexity so that we can bury more fees and so on, but to be more aligned with our customers and have the same interests as them.

On this episode of People of Purpose, Johanna speaks to Jon Stein, founder and CEO of Betterment about his journey in starting Betterment, building a happy team, and the art of growing both in a meaningful way.

About Jon Stein

Jon is the Founder and CEO of Betterment. Just five years ago, Betterment was nothing more than a couple of guys working on a big idea and a strong hunch that their software could answer the question: What should I do with my money?

Their instinct turned out to be true: Today Betterment manages over $1.5 billion for nearly 70,000 customers.

The company sets out to help people better manage, protect, and grow their wealth through smarter technology. Today Betterment celebrates an additional $60 million funding, bringing the company’s total funding up to $105 million.
