Yamba yoga weekends 2016

Yamba yoga weekends

A weekend of rejuvenation, self reflection, resetting and soaking up the pleasures of good food and good company in one of Australia’s most beautiful beachside towns.

For most entrepreneurs there’s no work/life balance, only life. When you’re doing what you love, you  don’t see it as work. This is great, until you find yourself working on your business ALL. THE. TIME.

It’s especially important for entrepreneurs and leaders to put down the tools for a weekend, recalibrate and come back refreshed with a renewed sense of purpose and focus.

Sar and I are so excited to announce a series of yoga weekends in Yamba next year. Our last one was so fantastic, we can’t wait to do it again.

Each one will follow the same general format so you can plan ahead; but the food, yoga style, theme and focus of our discussions will change according to the season and time of year.

We love the details of planning out the menu, tailoring the classes to the needs of the group, and weaving in yoga and other holistic philosophies into the flow of conversation. Take a look at the information below and email me to reserve your spot: johanna@wearemakedo.com.au.

Yamba

Yamba is a beautiful little beach town on the North Coast of NSW, an hour and a half South of Byron Bay. It’s famous for its quintessential Australian beaches (one for every wind direction) with glassy water and expansive shores. Nearby Angourie is a favourite for surfers and offers incredible beach walks with the rugged national park as the backdrop.

During your free time you can explore the natural beauty of Yamba, go surfing, or check out its funky shops and cafes. Belinda’s Store, Leche Cafe, Uptown Yamba and Barbaresco Angourie are firm favourites.

We also highly recommend making time for a massage with Amanda or Kerri at Yamba Remedial Massage. Both are experienced massage therapists committed to the wellbeing of their clients. And one one of the loveliest thing about this business is their location – inside the quaint Belinda’s Store – such a unique set up and relaxation is almost immediate.

Yoga

The physical practice itself is suitable for all – a balance of gentle restorative postures and stronger, grounding sequences with a constant focus on the breath. Each class incorporates around 60 minutes of dynamic movement with 30 minutes of meditation and deep relaxation.

Feel free to discuss if you have any injuries or other health concerns.

Food

We always have such a great bunch of people gather for these retreats. The shared meals provide a chance for everyone to get to know each other, and are always a highlight!

The meals are vegetarian, whole food and nourishing. We not only shape the menu around the local produce available, but use the season to determine the take on the meal — whether it’s hearty roast vegetables and fiery spices in winter; or cooling fruits and crunchy salads in the warmer months.

Venues

Daily yoga will be held at the lovely “Old Kirk,” a local community hall that worked beautifully last retreat. Its polished wooden floorboards and peaceful ambience make it perfect for mindful yoga, meditation and deep relaxation.

Shared meals are hosted at our family cottage, a renovated beach house that has hosted six generations of our family for Yamba holidays.

Accommodation and transport

To keep the costs low, and to allow for the many and varied plans of our retreat guests, we don’t include accommodation and transport. If you are travelling to Yamba for the weekend and are not familiar with the area, send me a note. We are happy to help with recommendations and advice (johanna@wearemakedo.com.au).

NOTE: If you are travelling from outside of Yamba please arrive the night prior to the retreat starting, as classes kick off early.

Your teachers

The weekends are led by sisters Sarah Scott of Yamba Yoga Retreats and Johanna Scott of Make Do Co. Sarah is a certified Yoga teacher with Prana Space Rosebay and has led retreats in Yamba for over seven years. Johanna is a certified yoga teacher with Sukha Mukha Bronte. We teach Hatha yoga with a focus on alignment, breath, self awareness and mindfulness. We hope to see you on a retreat soon!
